UPDATE: 1937 Buffalo Hose Wagon
Sun. Nov 6th 2016

A piece of the City of Richmond fire department history is coming to life !

A 1937 Buffalo Hose Wagon that was retired by Richmond in the 1950’s and then served in Alberta, Va. is being restored by ODHFS members Peter West & Tom Herman, with help from many other people, including Rocky Keplinger who did the transmission and Rick Pearsall, who lives close to Peter’s shop and provides extra hands when needed. The engine was sent to Fred’s Engine Service in Coatesville, Pa. for a total restoration. Every part of the chassis & body was sand blasted, primed and painted. Peter West is heading up the job and is using resources he had developed while restoring his own 2 rigs.

Michael Hall, a retired City of Richmond firefighter, who lives in Chesterfield close to Tom Herman, is just now finishing up the gold leaf work that is being done exactly as it was when delivered. Then the rig will be back to the shop at Peter West’s place for completion. After a little more than 3 years of work, we are starting to see the finished truck and getting excited about seeing it done!  Only 1 more year of work (or less) and another piece of Richmond FD history will be complete!
