Virginia Fire & EMS Memorial Service - Save the date!
This service will honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in calendar years 2019 and 2020 ( last year's service was not held due to COVID restrictions).
UPDATE as of May 7, 2021
There has been a change again concerning the Virginia Fire and EMS Memorial Service that will be held at the Richmond Raceway Complex on June 5, 2021 at noon. The venue has been changed from the Amphitheater back to the Exhibition Hall where the service has been held for many years. The service will NOT be open to the public but will be live streamed (more information on the live stream on the VDFP website later). Attendance will be restricted to families of the 12 Honorees, a limited number of members of their departments, apparatus from those departments, invited honor guard members, and a limited number of antique apparatus. All attending will be sent a health check form to complete and return prior to the service and will be given a temperature check prior to entering the facility. Inside the exhibit hall will be limited to four apparatus: two ladder trucks to display the US Flag and two antiques (ODHF's 1921 Rio and Tom Yenovkian's Pierce Dash) . The space in the exhibit hall where apparatus were parked in previous years is being used for socially distanced tables this year. All other in-service and antique apparatus will be parked in two columns outside of the exhibit hall for the families to drive between as they arrive. A few more ODHFS Antiques are welcome to display outside the exhibition hall but you will need to be in place by 0930, plan on being there until the service is over at 1400 +/-; and notify me ASAP so you can be placed on the health screening email list. There is no longer a need for hose carts to be displayed.
