ODHFS Central Region - December Update

ODHFS Central Region Members:

First I want to welcome to ODHFS and the Central Region several new members who have joined in the last few months:  Johnny Shelton; David Silvestro; Billy Greer; William Boissean; Stephen Filarsky; and Joe Reid.  

Up-coming events in the Central Region that are on the ODHFS website calendar include:

12/14/19  Powhatan Christmas Parade  3 PM.  Line up at Powhatan Fire Company 1 @ 2 PM.  Floyd Greene will be coordinating ODHFS units attending.  I know of at least one ODHFS apparatus that is planning on attending so I will be submitting the application.  If you would also planning on participating, please let me know.

SPECIAL ATTENTION CENTRAL REGION MEMBERS

We are now forming committees to assist with preparations for the 2020 annual meeting and the Farmville muster. If you would be willing to assist with either of these events (or both!), please notify Central region director Floyd Greene, FloydPowhatan@gmail.com or Tom Herman, tom-herman@att.net.

This will also be discussed at our January 25th meeting at the tractor museum.

Just some of the Assistance needed is as follows:

  • Fund raising – Sponsors
  • ODHFS t shirt etc., Sales table
  • ODHFS archive surplus sales (multiple tables)
  • Registration table
  • Door prizes
  • Planning & set up
  • Hospitality room at hotel, set up & take down
  • Audio visual equipment at hotel & museum

 Looking ahead there are three other events you need to put on your calendar:

  • January 25, 2020  Central Region get together and  Annual Pride and Polish Day at the Keystone Truck and Tractor Museum.  Its a time to socialize, tell some stories, and help keep the collection of antique fire apparatus there looking sharp.  More information will be sent out later.
  • April 3 & 4, 2020   ODHFS Annual Meeting at the Keystone Truck and Tractor Museum.  This year's meeting will include a both a seminar and social on Friday evening and a seminar and meeting on Saturday.  More information can be found on the last page of the ODHFS Torchbearer Fall 2019 edition.  Registration information will be sent out later.
  • October 10, 2020  ODHFS Muster Wilcks Lake Park, Farmville VA.    

Don't forget to keep a regular check on the ODHFS Website Event Calendar for other events that may not be in the Central Region but are in other parts of the Commonwealth or beyond that you might be intersected in.
