The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, the McLean Volunteer Fire Department, and the Great Falls Volunteer Fire Department regret to announce the passing of former Chief Homer Johns.
Homer joined the McLean VFD in 1967 and the Great Falls VFD in 1971, dedicating 57 years of service to Fairfax County. Chief Johns was a life member at both Great Falls and McLean and served as chief at both stations for a number of years and was even chief at both stations at the same time! Homer held almost every position at both stations, chief, president, secretary, and member of the board of directors over the years.
Please keep the members of the McLean and Great Falls VFDs, and Homer’s family in your thoughts.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
